Your timing data stays on your Mac.

What the app stores

WorkBye stores your work schedule, weekly time allowance, first day of the week, idle threshold, the current week’s accumulated usage total, and the start date of that week. These values are saved locally in macOS preferences so your settings and timing totals persist between launches.

The app counts active computer use outside your configured work schedule. To distinguish active use from idle time, it asks macOS how long it has been since the last keyboard, mouse, or trackpad input. It does not read or record the contents of that input.

What the app does not record

WorkBye does not record which apps you use, window titles, websites you visit, documents, screenshots, keystrokes, or mouse positions. You do not need an account to use the app.

No data leaves the app

The WorkBye app does not make network requests. It has no analytics, advertising, remote tracking, cloud sync, or automatic crash reporting. Your timing totals and settings are not uploaded, shared, or sold. An internet connection is not required for the app’s timing and reminder functions.

Your control over local data

You can change your schedule, allowance, first day of the week, and idle threshold in Settings. You can also reset the current week’s usage there. The usage total resets when a new week begins on your chosen day; the app does not keep a history of previous weeks.

Settings remain in your Mac’s preferences until changed or removed. Deleting the app alone may leave those preferences behind. Contact us if you need help removing them. We cannot access or delete the data on your Mac remotely.

Visiting this website

This website is separate from the macOS app. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical request information, such as your IP address, to deliver and protect the site.

The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics for page-view and performance metrics. Cloudflare describes this service as using no analytics cookies or browser fingerprinting. These website metrics do not contain your app’s timing totals or settings. Read about Cloudflare Web Analytics and Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

If you email help@workbye.app, we receive your email address and anything you choose to include in your message so we can respond. This is separate from the app; it does not send support messages or attach timing data automatically.

Please avoid sending personal or sensitive information that is not needed to answer your question. You can use the same address to ask about this privacy page or request deletion of your support correspondence.

This page describes the current WorkBye app and website. If their data handling changes, we will update this page and its date.
